A temporary architecture for projection and sound.
For the public light art festival “Die Blaue Nacht” in Nuremberg, three ten-metre-high scaffolding towers transformed the Hauptmarkt beside the Frauenkirche into a setting for moving image and sound. White mooring ropes formed modular projection surfaces across the open structures.
Stefan Reiss’s Transformation XYZ and Steffen Krebber’s Interlace Alpha brought visual and sonic compositions into the same public space. The work unfolded across multiple structures rather than a single conventional screen.

02 / My contribution
Engineering the temporary installation.
I led the technical work, engineering and planning, with responsibilities in prototyping, generative animation and installation. My role connected the artistic concept to the requirements of a large temporary structure in a public square.
The installation brought together several disciplines: Stefan Reiss’s concept and creative direction, Steffen Krebber’s composition, metalwork by Metallbau Gräbner and scaffolding by Gerüstbau Vogel GmbH.

03 / Structure
Ropes become a projection surface.
Each tower measures approximately ten by eight by ten metres. The scaffold provides the supporting volume; the white ropes supply the surfaces on which the projected image becomes visible.
The planning images show both scales of the task: how the surfaces sit within a tower, and how the three towers occupy the surrounding square. This relationship between an individual module and the larger site is central to the installation.

04 / Assembly
From an empty square to a working installation.
During the day, the construction becomes legible before the projected image takes over. Scaffolding, ropes and the site around them remain visible as separate parts of the finished experience.
The setup timelapse below shows the installation process and gives a sense of the scale of work behind a temporary festival presentation.
